project 3: multimodal video--250 points
In this project, using iMovie (or a similar program), you will compose a multimodal video that uses a combination of moving and still images, sound, and text. Like all of the other major projects, your video should engage your focal topic.
As with the other projects, the ultimate style of your video is relatively open--that is, it should engage your focal topic in a rhetorically savvy way. For some people, this might mean composing a comedic remix; for others, it might mean composing a documentary-style video essay. In class, we will overview some composing strategies that may prove useful for your approach, including parody, political video remix, documentary-style, and others. This project especially asks you to pay attention to digital delivery and circulation--in other words, how might your digital project "spread" in digital spheres?
Below are some of the composing strategies I expect to see in your final multimodal video project.
As with the other projects, we will work together to generate more specific evaluation criteria. Here's a breakdown of the smaller assignments within Project 3:
layering/screencasting exploration: 25 points
rhetorical analysis: 50 points
storyboarding/outline: 25 points
reflective analysis: 15 points
draft: 10 points
final: 125 points
